Hello BGMS Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, This is the last week before our winter break. We go all five days to school, Tuesday is not a minimum day, but Friday is a minimum day. Winter break then begins, and ends on Monday, January 3rd, with our first day back being Tuesday, January 4th, which is a minimum day. This week Monday we have a School Site Council meeting beginning at 3:30 pm. Tuesday, students are looking forward to the Student Council Snow Ball Dance. Only students with pre-bought tickets will be allowed to stay on campus for the dance. They will have to test for Covid before going into the dance, and an adult must pick them up after the dance. Basketball plays Eagle Peak on Monday, girls at Eagle Peak, and boys at home, beginning at 4:00. On Wednesday they play Pomolita, boys at Pomolita and girls at home beginning at 4:00. On Thursday the boys A team only plays Upper Lake at Upper Lake, beginning at 5:30 pm. On Friday and Saturday there is a Boys B Team Tournament in Potter Valley. There are lots of clothing items in our lost and found, which is on the stage in the cafeteria. Ask your child to look and see if they have any missing clothes. If you would like to look you can do that after school on Wednesday or Thursday. On Friday after school it will all be taken to Goodwill. Vamos a la escuela los cinco días, el martes no es un día mínimo, pero el viernes si es un día mínimo. Baechtel Creek Medical Clinic is giving Covid vaccinations to children age 5 to 11, 3 days a week from 3 to 4:40 pm by appointment. A parent or legal guardian has to be present. The child does not need to be a patient of Baechtel Creek Medical Clinic. There is no charge to the patient but the insurance company is billed if the patient has insurance. They also have frequent vaccination clinics for those 12 years old and older. This vaccine is not currently required to attend school.

Hello BGMS Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, Thank you to all the parents who Zoomed in to the AVID Parent Night. It was good to know that the AVID class is helping students to achieve college, and the career of their choice. All grade report cards were mailed on Friday of last week. Please review the promotion policy included, and see that your child is on course to promote to the next grade level. If this is not the case, we suggest they attend the after school academic assistance in room 12 on Monday, and Wednesday, and in room 6 on Thursday. Remember 9 sessions will make up an F grade. The Student Council at BGMS is sponsoring our first dance since we have been in the pandemic, next Tuesday, from 3:00 to 4:30, after school. Everyone interested in attending must buy a pre-sale ticket this week because the number of students has to be limited. In sports, Basketball plays Mendocino on Monday, boys at BGMS, and girls at Mendocino. Wednesday all four teams play River Oak at home. Please remember that everyone must be appropriately masked, over the nose. Players on the court are the only ones who can be unmasked. Thank you for helping us follow the Health Department regulation, and keep everyone safe. Hello BGMS Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, We hope everyone is ready for Trimester 2, after a good week off. This week we are starting our after school academic assistance in Language Arts, Math, and Science. This week we will begin Wednesday with Science help after school in room 12. Thursdays there will be after school help in Math in room 6. And beginning next week there will be help in Language Arts on Monday. Students who did not pass these classes can attend 9 sessions, for an hour each, and change that to a passing grade for promotion purposes. Wednesday at 5:30 pm we will have an AVID parent workshop on Zoom. Your AVID Student will have the link in their email. Monday basketball plays Pomolita, the boys at home and the girls at Pomolita. Wednesday they play Laytonville, the girls at home and the boys at Laytonville. Thursday only the Boy’s B team plays Fort Bragg Montessori, at the Old Rec Gym. Every day the games begin at 4:00 pm. Let’s make the next three weeks as productive as possible so that we can have a restful winter break. El lunes juega baloncesto en Pomolita, los chicos en casa y las chicas en Pomolita. El miércoles juegan Laytonville, las chicas en casa y los chicos en Laytonville. El jueves solo el equipo B de niños juega contra Fort Bragg Montessori, en el Old Rec Gym. Todos los días los juegos comienzan a las 4:00 pm. Hello BGMS Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, This is the last week of Trimester 1. All ELA and Math classes will be taking end of the trimester assessments. It is important that all students put effort into their end of trimester assessments so that teachers know what instruction is best for students, moving forward. Grades will not be final until we mail out report cards on Wednesday, December 1. Basketball plays Fort Bragg on Thursday, the girls at home, and the boys travel to Fort Bragg, both beginning at 4:00.Next week is our Thanksgiving break, from the 22nd to the 25th school will not be in session. Hello BGMS Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, There are two weeks left in Trimester 1. November 19th, the day before the week long Thanksgiving break is the last day of this trimester. Report cards will not be sent until after the Thanksgiving break, and grades are not final until the report cards are mailed on Thursday, December 2nd. This Thursday is Veterans Day and school is not in session. Friday of this week is a regular attendance day. We are asking for your help in monitoring the use of social media by all of our students. Remember that ultimately you are responsible for what is on your child’s phone, looking at the content of the phone is your right, although, they should take responsibility for how they use it. Our Student Council is planning sales of a healthy snack on a Snack Cart before school for those who do not have enough time to eat breakfast before arriving at school. Hello BGMS Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, Thank you parents for responding. We added about 50 more completed Educational Benefits Forms. Both students and staff enjoyed the creative costumes brought by students and teachers at last Friday’s dress up day. There were costume competitions, with prizes, judged by students from the BGMS Student Council. I hope that your child participated in this fun activity. The BGMS Book Fair is on this week! Have your child come by and look through the selection of books for something that is of interest for them. Parents can come by to pay for selected books, if they prefer not to send money with their student. Tomorrow is the start of try outs for the Basketball Teams. The first AVID Parent Workshop, for parents of all AVID students in grades 6, 7, and 8 will be virtual on Wednesday beginning at 5:30 pm. All AVID students will take home an informational flyer with the Zoom link included on Tuesday. If you are a parent of students in the AVID Elective classes and would prefer that the link be sent to your email, please call our office with this request. We want to give a huge shoutout to our cafeteria staff for making such healthy, delicious meals. They strive daily to give our students many options of fresh fruits and vegtables. Their hard work and dedication is much appreciated.

Hello BGMS Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, On Friday every BGMS student was given an Educational Benefits Form for you to fill out. Parents were previously sent a link in their email to complete this form, but not many were completed on line. Your students need your help. They have educational needs that are provided through funding that is tied directly to this form, from both federal and state sources, and we have a deadline. Please take about 10 minutes to fill it out, have your student return it to the office on Monday. When they return it they will be given a reward for the quick turnaround. Volleyball plays Mendocino at Mendocino on Monday, and Potter Valley at Potter Valley on Tuesday, both beginning at 4:00 pm. The final Volleyball game of the season is this Wednesday at home beginning at 4:00, we play River Oak. Basketball sign ups begin this week. Interested students must sign up to try out for the team in the main office. Hello Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, The staff at BGMS thanks our parents for your participation in the dialogue relative to student progress this last week. We know that your involvement is crucial to the success of your student. Volleyball plays all three games this week at in the BGMS gym. Tomorrow they play Pomolita, Tuesday they play Anderson Valley, and Wednesday they play Latonville. Each day the games begin at 4:00 pm. We are asking that parents talk to their children about continuing to work together with school staff to follow expectations, and ask when they do not understand, so that the school environment can be safe, enjoyable, and BGMS can be a place where students successfully reach their learning goals.
