Hello Sherwood Families. This Thursday, August 24th at 2:30 p.m. will be our first FOSSI meeting of the school year. FOSSI stand for Friends of Sherwood School Inc. We are a parent/teacher organization that works together to provide for the enrichment of our students education. FOSSI raises funds for field trips, school t-shirts, art supplies, fun activities like music and art enrichment programs with guest teachers and so much more. We would love for you to join us on our FOSSI team! If you have any questions please contact the school office.
For families that are coming for drop off and after school pick up: You are welcome to park in the bus circle, but please do not park past the tetherball pole. This space is to allow for the bus to park safely in its spot. Thank you and have a great evening.
Hello Sherwood Families. This is a reminder that today is an Early Release Day. School will get out at 1:30 p.m. Our bus will be on an Early Day schedule. All stops are an hour earlier than their regular time. Due to an in town staff training our playground will not be open today after school. Staff will need to leave directly after school gets out. Good evening Sherwood Families. We are so excited to welcome our students back to our campus! Tomorrow, August 21st, is our first day of school. Student drop off begins at 8:15 a.m. School starts at 8:30 a.m. All late students must check into the office before going to class. We also ask that all visitors to our site check into the office before going on to our campus. If you have students that need to complete their registration or turn in immunization records, the school office will open at 7:45 a.m. School will get out at 2:30 p.m. Just a few important reminders: All Kindergarten students may NOT ride the school bus to or from school for the first two week. Please arrange alterative transportation during this time. Sherwood School is a peanut and tree nut free zone. Please do not send your student with nut products of any kind. The first FOSSI Meeting of the year will be on Thursday, August 24th at 2:30 p.m. at the Sherwood picnic tables. FOSSI is our parent/teacher group. We hope you can make it. We have lots of fun ideas for the year and need your help! Tuesday is our first minimum day. School will get out early at 1:30 p.m. We can't wait to see all of our amazing students tomorrow morning! Hello Sherwood Families. The school office will be closed the rest of the day, August 15, as staff will be at a training. We will resume normal hours for the rest of the week. Just a reminder to our new to Willits Unified and Kindergarten families. We must have your students immunization records turned into the school office before your student can attend school on the first day, August 21st. If you have not already done so, please contact the office asap. I will be reviewing files tomorrow and will call to let you know if I do not have your students immunization records. Hello Sherwood Families of Kindergarten and First Grade students. Ms. Trisa would like to invite you to a Meet and Greet in her classroom this coming Wednesday, August 16th. For students who are already registered or who are returning for 1st grade, the classroom will be open from 4:30 to 5:00 pm. If you have friends in the community who have students who are Kinder-1st grade and are interested in Sherwood we would love to have them visit too. The classroom will be open for visitors from 5:00 to 5:30 pm. For all other grade levels: Keep an eye out in the mail for Welcome letters from your student's teacher. Hello Sherwood Families. We are excited to soon be starting another great year at Sherwood Elementary School. This is just a reminder that this Saturday, August 12th, will be our yearly FOSSI Summer Work Party. Good evening Sherwood Families. Tomorrow is our end of the year Pool Party. Please send your student with swimwear, a towel, change of clothes and sunblock. We also recommend that students bring a water bottle. We will be leaving for the pool at 11:00 a.m. and will arrive at 11:30 to have our lunch. Students will need to be picked up from the Willits City Pool at 2:30 p.m. There will be no regular afternoon bus service. Tomorrow is not an early day. School ends at 2:30. Our early day for the week will be Friday, June 9th. This is our last day of school. Thank you and have a good evening.
Hello Sherwood Families. There will be no school this coming Monday, May 29th in honor of Memorial Day. We hope you have a very safe and happy three day weekend.
Good evening Sherwood Middle School families. Our overnight camping trip is this Monday, May 22nd. Please have your student at the Willits City Park by 8:15 a.m. We will be departing at 8:30 a.m. We ask that you double check that your student has packed all items on the packing list. They should wear good walking shoes and bring a coat should it get chilly in the evening. Students must bring a reusable water bottle. We will have drinking water available, but not induvial plastic water bottles. We will be returning on Tuesday, May 23rd. Students will need to be picked up at the Willits City Park at 2:30 p.m. Thank you and see you tomorrow morning.

Hello Sherwood Middle School Families. This is a reminder that on Monday, May 15th we will have a Parent Meeting on Zoom to go over our plans for the Overnight Camping Trip that will be on May 22nd and 23rd. We would like to thank all of our families who attended our Open House Night despite the rainy weather and FOSSI for putting on a wonderful dinner and dessert auction fundraiser! We appreciate all of you and the hard work you put in to make Sherwood an amazing place for all our students.

Good Evening Sherwood Families. Our Open House Night will be on Friday, May 5th at 5:30 p.m. This will be a fun night of viewing your students Young Author Fair books and other fun school projects that they have been working on this year. FOSSI will be hosting a Mexican inspired dinner in honor of Cinco de Mayo and Dessert Auction Fundraiser to help support the school. Our Middle School class will be having a plant sale to raise funds for their over night camping trip. FOSSI will not need any additional help on Thursday, but if anyone is available to help on Friday with set up, please be at the school by 4:00 p.m. Any assistance would be greatly apricated.
This Monday our 3rd -8th graders will begin their yearly CAASP Testing. Testing will run throughout the week. Our Middle School Students will need to bring their Chromebooks to school fully charged daily. We encourage students to have a good breakfast and to be well rested. Hello Sherwood Families. Just a reminder that tomorrow is our fieldtrip to Ridgewood Ranch. Please send your student with good walking shoes, a water bottle and clothing for warm weather. Sun block to if needed. All students should take their normal mode of transportation to and from the school. We will be leaving the school at 9:00 a.m. and returning by 1:00 p.m. to finish the day at school. School will get out at the regular time of 2:30 p.m. Our afternoon bus schedule will run as normal. Good evening Sherwood Families. This Friday is our Earth Day Walk-a-Thon. Please continue to have your students collect pledges for this fundraiser through Thursday. Students should bring their envelops on Friday morning so we can write down the number of laps they have completed so they can collect their pledge money.
This Friday we are also having our rescheduled Smiles Dental Screening that was canceled due to the snow storms. We will be sending home the permission slip for this event if we do not already have your student's form.
This Wednesday, April 19th our 7th and 8th graders will begin their Healthy Me Sex Education course. If you did not receive the opt out only permission slip and DO NOT want your student taking this course please call the school office before Wednesday morning. Any student who does not have an opt out letter signed by a parent/guardian will take part in this class. Thank you and have a good evening.
Good evening Sherwood Families. This is just a reminder that all donated Easter Eggs for our annual Easter Egg Hunt are due to the Sherwood office by tomorrow, Thursday, April 6th. We would also like to encourage our students to bring an Easter Basket to put their eggs in. If you are a fingerprinted parent who would like to hide eggs on Friday, please contact the school office.
We would also like to remind all our 5th, 6th and 7th grade parents of our important Parent Meeting on Thursday, April 6th at 5:30 p.m. This meeting will be held at the Willits High School Media Center.
