Dear Blosser Lane Family and Friends, Contrary to a recent social media post, Blosser Lane does not have PE on Tuesdays, although two classes were outdoors this morning before temperatures were unreasonable. Additionally, to address the excessive heat forecast we suspended afternoon lunch recess, and PE outdoors after 11:00 a.m. for the remainder of the heat wave. We adopted a schedule similar to our rainy day recess schedule, where we have students play, or will have afternoon PE, indoors. Overall, we are limiting outdoor exposure, allowing water breaks often, and watching for signs of dehydration... If you have any questions, or would like additional information, please feel free to contact us at 707-459-3232. Thank you.

Dear Parents and Families, Willis Unified School School District asks parents and families of the District to complete the Education Benefit Form. The California Department of Education (CDE) uses the Education Benefit Form to calculate supplemental funding for our schools which is built into the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). Supplemental funding in the LCAP is used to improve and enhance services to your student, including but not limited to: Student Chromebooks, Tutoring, Advanced Placement Test Fees, additional Counseling services, Career Technical Education programs, and other programs designed to assist students in becoming College Ready and Career Prepared. It is extremely important that you complete this form online at https://willitsunified.rocketscanapps.com/ Every eligible form that is not submitted means lost resources for our students. All information provided is completely confidential and will not be shared or used for any other purpose. Thank you!!

In order to successfully increase funding to increase or improve educational opportunities for the students of Willits Unified it’s important to please complete the Educational Benefit Form every year. Please complete the Educational Benefit Form online here => https://willitsunified.rocketscanapps.com/default.aspx Without these forms completed, we may lose funding that directly supports our students' education. This form is also used to determine eligibility for participation in various programs including reduced or free fees for After School Education & Safety (ASES), waiver of fees for taking Advanced Placement (AP) exams, and other programs.

Hello Parents, I hope you're all doing well. We are discussing as a district how we might be able to open school again for in person classes. Please respond to this survey by tomorrow (Friday, February 26th, if possible). We would like to know your choice as to whether or not you will be sending your child back to school or if you want to continue distance learning. Thank you. Also, tomorrow, Friday, February 26th, is an asynchronistic day of learning. Teachers will be meeting for a planning day. There are no morning Zooms, only 12:30 small group reading. Please support students by checking in with them that they are doing the day's assignments in Google Classroom, reading, doing IXL, and catching up on any missing work. Next week we are completing our 2nd report card period. Thanks! Here are the surveys. One is in English, one is in Spanish. Thank you so much! https://forms.gle/skYQLzjTQ8q2XFsz9 English https://forms.gle/uSAgAWLDzX1Ehfd47 Spanish

The Willits teachers will open up today on their online classes if they’re able to and we would like students to connect if they can. We understand that there are still some power issues around town but if you have access please login.

So far WUSD has only received responses representing 370 of approximately 1500 students in the district. In order for us to get a clearer picture of your wishes, we must hear from more of our families. Below are the current results. If you have not filled out the survey please click on this link. https://www.willitsunified.com/o/wusd/page/school-reopening

WUSD has developed a draft plan with input from administration and teachers on how to reopen schools safely. I expect that this plan will have changes to it as time, data and procedures change. A major goal before coming back on site is to develop a viable academic plan, share it with our parents and then poll our parents to determine who wants to send their students back to on-site learning. Without question, WUSD will be following all the County Health Department guidelines for example; masks will be required, social distancing as much as possible, and small cohort sizes. I envision there is a group of parents who are not going to send their child back regardless of the hybrid model we have in place and others who are passionate about getting them back in even if it’s for a short period of time. WUSD wants to provide what the community needs and will have options for either on-site or to continue with distance learning. In order to provide our parents with choices it may require some staff movement and could take some time to put in place. WUSD will be doing a survey with the parents of all students to get information back to help plan for a reopen, whenever that can take place. The district has all the PPE necessary for staff and students. Every classroom will have a hospital grade air purifier and daily disinfection. Each site will have a set of health standards protocols. (Attached) At this time, COVID numbers are growing daily and reopening in a fully hybrid model is in not a good idea. The District also has several import safety items on back order, such as air purifiers. Currently WUSD is allowing students on campus to meet one on one with their teachers as needed, and providing direct services for our students with special needs. In the next few weeks, I would like the coaches to begin athletic conditioning with our students, following all the rules established by the athletic department. With the holidays approaching this is an opportune time to refine the practices and protocols. After the holidays, in mid-January we will have data to determine if it is allowable to reopen.
