Dear Blosser Lane Staff and Families, This message is to inform you that, after 29 years as an educator with Willits Unified School District, I will be retiring my position as Principal of Blosser Lane Elementary School as of June 16, 2023. I feel that the time is right to move on to the next phase of my life and travel with my husband to spend time with our sons. After a comprehensive interview process and panel discussion, a candidate has been selected for my position. Beginning in July, Margaret Duran will become Blosser Lane Elementary School’s new principal. I am comforted and feel assured that as I leave this wonderful position, Blosser Lane will be led by a capable, student centered, and competent educator and now principal. The following is a message from Mrs. Duran: My name is Margaret Duran and I am excited to transition into this new position as Principal of Blosser Lane Elementary. I have had the opportunity to teach on this campus for the last eight years as a 3rd grade teacher in room 22, and have been an active member of this learning community. I grew up in Willits, and am now raising my two beautiful children here with my husband Chris. I am excited for this opportunity to serve at my site and look forward to the 2023/2024 school year. Mrs.Runberg and I will be working closely to ensure a smooth transition. I look forward to collaborating with the amazing staff and families of Blosser Lane! Warmly, Mrs.Runberg and Mrs.Duran

Dear Blosser Lane Families, Safety of students and staff is WUSD’s utmost priority. During recess today, students reported that they observed a person on the other side of the fence on the walking trail. We alerted the police department, District personnel immediately walked the path and didn't find any individual. The Willits Police Department assessed the area and didn't find any potential threats. Thank you to our students for reporting their concerns, to staff for their quick attention, and to WPD for responding quickly. We will continue to monitor our campus’ surroundings. If you have any questions, please call the school at 707-459-3232. Thank you, Molly Snider, Acting Admin -3/17/23

Dear Blosser Lane Family and Friends, Contrary to a recent social media post, Blosser Lane does not have PE on Tuesdays, although two classes were outdoors this morning before temperatures were unreasonable. Additionally, to address the excessive heat forecast we suspended afternoon lunch recess, and PE outdoors after 11:00 a.m. for the remainder of the heat wave. We adopted a schedule similar to our rainy day recess schedule, where we have students play, or will have afternoon PE, indoors. Overall, we are limiting outdoor exposure, allowing water breaks often, and watching for signs of dehydration... If you have any questions, or would like additional information, please feel free to contact us at 707-459-3232. Thank you.

Hello Parents, I hope you're all doing well. We are discussing as a district how we might be able to open school again for in person classes. Please respond to this survey by tomorrow (Friday, February 26th, if possible). We would like to know your choice as to whether or not you will be sending your child back to school or if you want to continue distance learning. Thank you. Also, tomorrow, Friday, February 26th, is an asynchronistic day of learning. Teachers will be meeting for a planning day. There are no morning Zooms, only 12:30 small group reading. Please support students by checking in with them that they are doing the day's assignments in Google Classroom, reading, doing IXL, and catching up on any missing work. Next week we are completing our 2nd report card period. Thanks! Here are the surveys. One is in English, one is in Spanish. Thank you so much! https://forms.gle/skYQLzjTQ8q2XFsz9 English https://forms.gle/uSAgAWLDzX1Ehfd47 Spanish

The Willits teachers will open up today on their online classes if they’re able to and we would like students to connect if they can. We understand that there are still some power issues around town but if you have access please login.
