Hello Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, We had to reschedule the ELAC meeting to this Wednesday at 5:00 pm. All parents of English Language Learners are asked to zoom into the meeting. A link will be sent to your email. Tomorrow’s Volleyball game playing Eagle Peak will start at 4:00 at BGMS. Wednesday they play Fort Bragg, at Fort Bragg, also starting at 4:00. Next week we have student/parent/teacher conferences. Your student will call you to set up the conference time during the day, with their Language Arts teacher. These are virtual meetings. Only one timeslot is set up, and all of the student’s teachers that are available, will attend. The student must attend also, to have clear communication. Hello Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, We have been experiencing a rough transition to having all students back in person in school. We want to assure you that we are making adjustments to address this, and create a calmer atmosphere on campus. Tomorrow is the first meeting of our School Site Council, beginning at 3:30 pm. This is a virtual meeting. Members of the School Site Council will receive the Zoom meeting link in their email with the agenda. Everyone is welcomed, call the office to be sent the link. The first volleyball game is also tomorrow beginning at 4:00 pm, playing Fort Bragg. Please remember that all spectators must be wearing a mask inside, and outside of the gym. Wednesday they play Eagle Peak at Eagle Peak at 4:00 pm. Go Cougars! This is the Campaign Week for all candidates for Student Council officers. We had a good turnout of candidates. Friday they will give their election speeches to each grade level assembly, and voting will take place after the speeches. Hello Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, I hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day Holiday. Student activities at BGMS are up and running. Volleyball has their first game next Monday, the 13th. Students interested in student government can pick up applications for Student Council officer positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Activities Director in the main office, or from Ms. McKay in room 12. WEB Leaders will give their first academic lesson this Friday to both the sixth and seventh graders, since seventh graders did not have the opportunity to participate in these last year. All subject areas will also begin using their curriculum this week. Students should have their cell phones off during the day. Parents should not text students. Please call the office and we will get your message to them. We are still not able to invite large groups of families to in person events. The School Site Council will meet next Monday the 13th, and the Back to School Night will take place on Wednesday the 22nd. Both of these will be virtual, and I will send links on those weeks. Everyone is invited to attend. Most students are transitioning well to being part of a school community. If your child is having trouble with the transition, please have them talk to someone in the office, or a teacher. There are resources to assist students in feeling comfortable in returning to in person school. Hello BGMS Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, We are ready to receive students! The WEB Orientation for sixth grade students will begin tomorrow at 8:00 am, at the gym. Please wear a mask. Sixth grade parents can walk over to the Mat Room and get a copy of the Parent/ Student Handbook for more information about procedures at BGMS. At 11:30, after students are picked up from the orientation, parents and students can drive up to the front of the school and the Tech department will issue a Chromebook, to sixth graders only. A parent, Guardian, or Caregiver must sign for the Chromebook. Please wear a mask. Tuesday is the first day of school attendance for this year. We will be giving out class schedules to all students as they are dropped off in front of the school. Schedules may change in Aeries up until Tuesday morning. Students must bring their school issued Chromebooks to school every day. Sports have started with Volleyball open gym beginning at 3:30 pm in the gym. Try outs will be taking place soon. Hello BGMS Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, We are a little over a week away from the start of the 2021-2022 school year. The first day of school is Tuesday, August 24th. We are looking forward to welcoming all of our students back to full days of in person instruction. There will be safety practices that we will post on our website by the end of this week. The district safety practices are on the district website. Sixth grade families will receive in the mail an invitation to their day of orientation Monday, August 23rd. Parents please note that students must bring a mask to school and they must wear it inside any building. Outside use of a mask is optional. The WEB Leaders will be distributing class schedules, and we will also be distributing Chromebooks to our sixth graders after the orientation. Schedules for the 7th and 8th graders will be available after 1:00 on Monday the 23rd, or on Tuesday from 7:30 am to 8:00 am on Tuesday, the start of the school day. The end of our instructional day is at 2:57 pm. We are ready to make it a fun and exciting start to our school year! This form is also used to determine eligibility for participation in various programs including reduced or free fees for After School Education & Safety (ASES), waiver of fees for taking Advanced Placement (AP) exams, and other programs.

BGMS Volleyball begins Monday, August 16th! Join us for the week before the school starts at Open Gym from 3:30-4:30pm. Girls interested in trying out for volleyball are strongly encouraged to attend. We will be beginning conditioning, and teaching the fundamentals of the sport: serving, passing, and the rules. All students are required to wear a mask at all times while inside of the gym. Please DO NOT attend if you have tested positive for covid, are experiencing any symptoms, and/or have come into close contact with someone who has. Students should bring a mask, water bottle, and athletic clothes/shoes. Students do not need to purchase knee pads until after tryouts. Any student interested in pursuing volleyball this year should complete a physical exam as soon as possible. Free sports physicals on Sunday July, 25th from 8:00 to 12:00 at Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits. Any student that is thinking they are going to play any school sport this year, will need to have a physical examination from a doctor. This is a good opportunity to get this done and at no cost. Hello BGMS Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers, This is our last week of this school year. Teachers have many fun and exciting activities planned for students for this week. We hope that everyone will stay with us until the end, on Friday. Monday and Tuesday we will be doing a Chromebook check for all of our students, including the distance learners. Everyone should have picked up a new Chromebook in March. Students will keep this Chromebook until they graduate from Willits High School. All students will bring their Chromebooks to school and their block 1 teacher will note the condition and the Chromebook number. Our distance learners will give their teacher their number, and tell them what the condition is. If any student did not receive a new Chromebook in March, they should call the office and make arrangements to bring in their old Chromebook and receive a new one. The Eighth Grade Promotion Procession will begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday. Parents of eighth graders involved in this procession were sent information last week. I want to thank you for your extraordinary support of the learning of your children in this unusual year.
