Dear Blosser Lane Families and Friends, I hope you are well and in good spirits upon receiving this message. We are pleased to share that we received 80% of the first week’s student school-work packets. By the way, of the 258 packets we received, only four were without a name, hence, please make sure your student’s name is on their work. Also, if the work is too difficult, please have your child give their best effort and do what they can. Good news, in addition to mathematics, our district is pleased to offer additional IXL subjects. Using their login and passwords, students can explore Language Arts, Science and Social Studies, via their IXL accounts. Please remember that the best way to contact staff is through email. All district emails are first and last name @willitsunified.com. Teachers are setting up office hours to connect with students and to offer support for the work packets. If your child is missing any of the school-work packets, please communicate this to your child’s teacher. Students should be checking their student gmail accounts as teachers are sending invitations to Google Meets and Zoom meetings. As long as they are logged into their chrome they can access their email. Also, please communicate with your child’s teacher; we have had difficulty connecting with some parents. At this time, we are only expecting to be out through Spring Break and resume classes on Monday, April 13th. If things change, we will keep you informed as we are informed. Thank you for your time and attention to our Friday Night Notes; stay safe and be well. Sincerely, Mrs. Runberg, Principal

Even in the midst of trying times like this, good things can still happen. Today we received the fourth new bus from grant funds. This is a huge savings to the district and has significantly upgraded our transportation department. Can’t wait for us to get back on the road.

We have been using this program at grades 3-5 for the past two years. Based on the situation we are in, I have expanded the use of it and added Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. If you have a student in grades 3-5 they know all about it. IXL has grade Level Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. (Science and Social Studies start at 2nd grade). The program is linked to California State Standards for all areas and is set to work in conjunction with the Math book series we use in grades K-5. This is new to the K-2 teachers, they will be able to see your child's progress and what the struggle with. The 3-5 Grade teachers already know who to use it and will now be able to use it for Language Arts as well. If you go to the district website and click on the Modified School Information Button you will see a video named IXL to watch. DOWNLOAD the App for tablets, Ipads, Iphone and smartphones https://www.ixl.com/apps Login Websitie https://www.ixl.com/signin/willits Username Firstname lastname @Willits (Example: johnsmith@willitsPassword abcd1234 ( you can change it if you wish once your are up and running. ) Thank you for all your efforts at home.

Dear Blosser Lane Families and Friends, I hope you are well and in good spirits upon receiving this message. As it was communicated yesterday, and because it is essential to our students’ academic learning, on Monday, March 23rd from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., we will collect and exchange our schoolwork packets. Please stay in your car and drive through the parking lot driveway towards the words Blosser Lane Elementary School above the bus loading area. We will collect the completed packet and give you the next two week’s packets. If you prefer not to drive to the school, there are online copies of the packets on the district website under the Modified School Information button. Please be aware that the best way to contact staff is through email. All district emails are first and last name @willitsunified.com. An important resource to use, to keep up math skills, is IXL math. Please use our IXL math tool at home at ixl.com/signin/willits. Also, many of our classes use GoNoodle to stay active and engaged with dance-alongs, yoga videos, mindfulness activities, and other awesome ways to move while reinforcing educational topics. Your family can use GoNoodle at home for free! Just go to GoNoodle.com At this time, there are no upcoming events to mention. We will keep you informed as we are informed. Thank you for your time and attention to our Friday Night Notes; have a great and safe weekend. Sincerely, Mrs. Runberg, Principal

All school sites will be open on Monday for students to get any materials they need, but normal in-class instruction will be suspended until April 13. Students will be expected to begin their packets or online instruction. Please say turned into information because this is a changing situation. It will be our hope to have our libraries open for students who need access. Breakfast and lunch will be provided through the high school in a pick up and go fashion.

If you are going to volunteer with WUSD this year you need to have your fingerprints done. The company Print Your Mitts, will be at Brookside Elementary Open House on Thursday at 6 PM until 8. WUSD has a form that the DOJ charges us $32 for us to have processed and Mitt Your Mitts will charge you $30 for their service. If your interested please have 2 checks available to use. We greatly appreciate our volunteers. We don't have any choice on the rules or cost. I would get there early, last year there was a line.
