Dear Blosser Lane Families and Friends, It is difficult to believe that we are almost in the middle of October, where does the time go? The present signs of autumn, very cool mornings and warm afternoons, remind us about the importance of dressing in layers to help students adjust to the different temperatures. Please be aware that next Tuesday, October 15, 2019 will not be an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 2:40 p.m. Thank you for attending our Parent-Teacher conferences this past week. This was a great opportunity to: discuss your child's progress; share your child's strengths and needs; and, work with the teacher to help your child do well in school. Now that we have been at school for a couple of months, we have the following reminders: To ensure appropriate morning supervision, please drop-off students at school after 7:30 a.m. The morning and afternoon arrivals and departures of students, can be very challenging due to the volume of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Hence, when buses are in the school driveway, please do not drive around and try to pass them. We are making a special effort to ensure that all students fully benefit from their education by attending school regularly. This helps children feel better about school—and themselves. Consistent attendance helps children do well in high school, college, and at work; plus, we love having them here! Please mark your calendars for some upcoming events: Parent Teacher Organization meeting is Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. in the library Pumpkin Day (Dress up like a pumpkin or wear orange) – Friday, October 25, 2019 Fourth and fifth grade Thriller Flash Mob dance is Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Blosser Lane at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2019 and Friday, November 1, 2019 are non-student days; thus, no school these days. Thank you for your time and attention to our Friday Night Notes. Have a great weekend. Sincerely, Mrs. Runberg, Principal
All of the Willits schools have power and will be open today.
Good Evening. Please be advised that there is a chance of a power outage in the Willits area scheduled for tomorrow October 9th. If you have power at your residence tomorrow morning, assume that school will be in session during regular scheduled hours. If you do not have power at your residence tomorrow morning, assume school will be canceled. In the event of a power outage during the day, school will continue to be operational until the end of the school day. We will continue to update you as we receive further information. Mr. Westerburg
Dear Blosser Lane Families and Friends, Each day we highlight students and staff who are “Caught Being Kind”, and we mention their kindness during our morning announcements. Well, it must be said that our PTO was caught being kind and caring! They did an amazing job of setting up our first ever Spaghetti Dinner and Movie in the Park, fundraiser! It was a fun night, and it was great to see so many families supporting the event. Way to go PTO! Kind and caring people rock!! Please be aware that next week is Parent-Teacher conference week. Dismissal time all week for students will be at 1:20 p.m. As a result, next Monday’s Chess Club will be from 1:20 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. We didn’t get to send out a flyer last Thursday with information about a project from our 5th grade leadership group; however, the goal is to send it out next Thursday. The group will be gathering personal hygiene items to donate to the local food bank. Specific items will be listed on the flyer. Please mark your calendars for some upcoming events: Parent Teacher Conference Week – October 7, 2019 through October 11, 2019. This will be an early dismissal week. Just a reminder to please have your child turn in their technology user agreement form as soon as possible. Please check your child's backpack. Many of our dynamic educational tools are technology based. If you have any questions regarding these tools please contact your child's teacher. Have a great weekend!
If you are going to volunteer with WUSD this year you need to have your fingerprints done. The company Print Your Mitts, will be at Brookside Elementary Open House on Thursday at 6 PM until 8. WUSD has a form that the DOJ charges us $32 for us to have processed and Mitt Your Mitts will charge you $30 for their service. If your interested please have 2 checks available to use. We greatly appreciate our volunteers. We don't have any choice on the rules or cost. I would get there early, last year there was a line.
Reminder: All WUSD schools are on regular schedule today. Our first minimum day of the school year will be next Tuesday, August 27th.
